John came to Dan River in September 2022. Previously he had been the Pastor at Lebanon Baptist Church in Eastover, NC for almost fourteen years. He also pastored County Line Baptist and Halifax Baptist from 2000-2008. John graduated from The College of William and Mary in Virginia in 1986 with a BBA in Accounting. After working in healthcare finance, he was called to ministry and graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2002 with a Master of Divinity degree and later Luther Rice University with a Doctor of Ministry in 2006.

John has been married to Barbara since 1988 and they have two grown daughters. Kelsey and her husband Andrew live in Apex, NC. Madelynn and her husband Chris live in Lexington Kentucky. They also have three grandchildren Tristan, Elliana (Ellie), and Rowan.

Tim has been a member of Dan River since he moved here with his wife, Patty, in 1980. He has been a member of the choir for about twenty-nine years. Tim has been the choir director for a total of about 20 years. His full-time occupation is as a department manager with a local electrical contractor. Tim has two children, Brad who is married and lives here in South Boston, and Jenny who is married and lives in Myrtle Beach, SC. He and Patty have 4 grandchildren.

Daniel Barker

Daniel grew up at Dan River Baptist Church and was actively involved in the children and youth programs. He also participated in a number of stateside and international mission trips while in high school and college. After living in Wake Forest, NC, for 9 years where he completed college and went on to earn his MDiv in Christian Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, he returned to Halifax County.
Daniel has a passion for reading and studying the Bible. He became our youth leader in the summer of 2019 and enjoys working with youth because they are not just the future of the church but part of the church right now.

He also enjoys fishing, hiking, and watching sports, especially Duke basketball and New York Yankees baseball.
